Gradius Galaxies

Players control the Vic Viper in horizontally scrolling stages, firing the main weapon, options, and special armaments to clear waves of enemies and destroy stage bosses. The familiar Power Meter system returns: collecting capsules lets you shift upgrades between speed, missiles, double, laser, options, and shields. Stage design mixes heavy enemy fire, fixed cannons, and terrain hazards, so route knowledge matters as much as raw shooting. Progress comes by clearing each stage and defeating its boss, with emphasis on memorizing attack patterns and managing power-ups efficiently.

The primary enemy faction, fielding mechanical weapons and organic-looking war machines.

Raise speed only to a comfortable level first, then secure shields and a reliable damage option before investing in riskier upgrades. When bullet patterns get dense, it is often better to eliminate forward turrets early than to react at point-blank range. In boss fights, learn the attack loop, stay in a safe firing lane, and destroy any parts that create wide spreads or summon adds as soon as possible.

Tips and tricks

• Keep at least one defensive upgrade active; the GBA screen makes high-speed dodging harder to read.
• Memorize capsule placements, since losing your upgrade chain can make later stages much tougher.
• Boss phases often include small recovery windows, which are good moments to reset positioning and power-up choices.
