R-Type II

Players pilot the R-9C through 8 horizontally scrolling stages, fighting waves of patterned enemies and large bosses. The key mechanic is the detachable Force unit, which can be attached to the front or rear of the ship, launched independently, or used to absorb attacks and damage enemies. Weapon icons upgrade the ship into red, blue, or yellow shot types, while the beam cannon can be charged for stronger attacks. Progress depends on route memorization, precise positioning, and using the Force creatively in tight terrain and dense enemy formations.

Treat the Force as your main defensive tool as much as an attack option; decide in advance whether front or rear attachment is safer for each section. Red weapons provide strong forward pressure, while blue can help with awkward angles in some stages. Save charged beam shots for dangerous enemy clusters and durable mid-sized targets. During boss fights, identify safe zones first, then attack consistently without overcommitting.
