Metal Slug 4

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective where one or two players fight through multiple stages using pistols, heavy machine guns, flame shots, rockets, and grenades against soldiers, turrets, vehicles, and bosses. Its main addition is the Weapon Stock System, which lets players hold certain special weapons for later use. Slug vehicles return, and players can jump, crouch, toss grenades, rescue prisoners for items, and progress stage by stage to the final mission.

Rescue prisoners whenever possible for weapon drops and score bonuses. Save strong stockable weapons such as rockets or lasers for minibosses and bosses instead of spending them on basic infantry. Vehicles are powerful but fragile under concentrated fire, so abandon them before they explode if survival is more important. In co-op, spread out to cover different firing lanes and reduce the chance that both players get trapped by the same attack pattern.

• Carry a stored special weapon into boss fights whenever possible.
• Prioritize rescuing prisoners for extra resources.
• Keep moving forward carefully instead of staying in the center of the screen too long.
