Matches take place from a side-on perspective in circular arenas, with the fighters able to move toward or away from the camera as well as across the screen. The objective is to win rounds by reducing the opponent’s life bar before time expires. The SNES version includes single-player tournament-style progression, practice-oriented play, and two-player battles on one console. Success depends on spacing, jumping over attacks, recognizing each fighter’s reach, and using the available normal and special attacks at the correct distance. The tournament path advances through successive opponents and ends with a final challenge.

Stay near the center of the arena so that movement toward or away from the camera does not trap your fighter against the edge. Use jumps to avoid predictable attacks, then counter while the opponent is recovering. In tournament play, learn the reach and timing of the fighter you select before relying on special attacks. Against a human opponent, vary your attack timing rather than repeating one punch or kick, because predictable approaches are easier to block or evade.
