Streets of Rage 2

This is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where players advance through multi-part stages, defeating waves of enemies and fighting bosses at the end of each area. Each character has unique speed, power, and reach, with punch and kick strings, jump attacks, throws, aerial follow-ups, and a special move that costs health. Weapons and food items can be collected from the environment, and progression is stage-based until the final confrontation with Mr. X.

Axel Stone

A balanced protagonist with steady offense and defense, ideal for new players.

Blaze Fielding

Fast and agile, with quick strings and strong mobility against nimble foes.

Max Thunder

A power-focused character with strong throws and close-range damage, but slower movement.

Skate Hunter

The fastest character, suited for hit-and-run pressure and rapid offense.

Mr. X

Leader of the crime syndicate and the game's final enemy.

When surrounded, keep moving laterally to avoid being trapped in enemy pressure. Use throws and special moves to interrupt charges and recover control, and pick up weapons to handle tougher enemies quickly. Save health items for dangerous moments, and avoid overextending just to chase enemies. Max excels against single tough targets, while Axel and Blaze provide reliable all-round progress and Skate can quickly punish scattered foes.

Tips and tricks

• Learning dash-jump pressure and throw follow-ups greatly improves damage output.
• Try to herd enemies toward the edge of the screen to reduce the chance of being flanked.
• Pick up weapons with the situation in mind; some are harder to use safely in crowded fights.
