Mortal Kombat

The game uses a side-view 2D one-on-one fighting format. Each fighter has basic punches, kicks, throws, and special moves triggered by directional inputs. Progress is built by defeating a ladder of CPU opponents, eventually leading to boss battles against Goro and Shang Tsung. The Genesis version keeps the core roster and finishing moves, while toning down some presentation compared with the arcade original.

Learn one safe special move and use it to control space before attempting bigger risks. Against CPU pressure, anti-air attacks and throws are often more reliable than trading hits. For Goro, avoid overcommitting and punish his landing recovery; for Shang Tsung, stay patient and do not rush into close-range exchanges.
