Mortal Kombat

Players choose a fighter and battle in side-view 2D matches. Each character has light and heavy attacks, jumps, blocks, throws, and special moves entered with directional and button combinations. Matches are round-based, and the first fighter to win two rounds takes the bout. Spacing, timing, and reading the opponent are essential, while special moves and finishers reward precise input at the right range and moment.

An ice-powered ninja who controls space with freezing attacks and combo setups.

A thunder god with strong mobility and pressure tools for controlling the pace of a fight.

A martial-arts champion with quick movement, strong jump-ins, and solid close-range offense.

Sonya Blade

A military fighter with agile movement and effective grab-based pressure.

Learn each character’s special moves first, then practice basic combo timing and safe jump-ins. Against the CPU, steady pressure and well-timed jumps are often more reliable than risky strings. Avoid getting trapped in corners, and use blocking plus movement to reset spacing. Saving health and staying patient in later fights makes the final matches much easier.

A classic blood-code style input associated with enabling more violent presentation in certain versions.
