Players drop colored puyos into a playfield and clear groups of four or more connected by color. Chaining multiple clears sends garbage puyos to the opponent, and Puyo Puyo 2 adds an offset system that lets you cancel incoming garbage with your own attacks. The game centers on competitive versus play, though single-player modes are also included. As the board fills, drop speed increases and planning becomes tighter.
