Gradius III

This is a side-scrolling shooter viewed from a horizontal perspective. Players control Vic Viper as it moves through fixed-path stages, destroying enemy craft, turrets, and terrain hazards. Defeated foes drop power capsules that fill a selectable power meter, letting you activate speed-up, missiles, double, options, and shield in a chosen order. Stages feature large bosses, environmental obstacles, and dense bullet patterns. After death, you usually respawn at the current checkpoint, with repeated failures forcing a significant rollback. The SNES version keeps the arcade structure while adding especially tough sequences.

Vic Viper

The player's main combat ship and the series' signature craft, built around flexible power-ups and aggressive firepower.

Learn the power-meter order and aim to secure shield and options early for better survivability. Avoid rushing to spend every capsule at once, since a poor setup can leave you vulnerable. In tight stages, prioritize safe positioning over maximum firepower. Memorizing enemy spawn points and terrain hazards is one of the biggest advantages in this game.
