Castlevania

The game uses a side-scrolling perspective with linear stage progression through castles, corridors, and monster-filled outdoor areas. Simon attacks with a whip that can be upgraded for greater range and power, while candles hide sub-weapons such as holy water, axes, crosses, and the stopwatch. Hearts serve as ammo for sub-weapons, and bosses guard the end of each stage. Progress is based on clearing stages in order.

Learn enemy spawn points and jump timing to avoid being hit into pits. Break candles whenever possible to stock up on hearts and useful sub-weapons. Holy water is especially strong against grounded enemies and some bosses, while axes help with high or airborne targets. Preserve whip upgrades by avoiding damage, since losing them makes later stages much harder.
