Sonic the Hedgehog

The game uses a side-scrolling viewpoint. Players move Sonic with the directional controls, use one button to jump, and can attack enemies by jumping on them. Rings act as a buffer against damage: if Sonic is hit while holding rings, he loses them instead of a life. Stages are built from multiple sections with springs, slopes, loops, traps, and enemy placements, encouraging both careful movement and burst speed. Reaching the end of a stage leads to a boss encounter or clear result, and some routes reward players who learn the layout and preserve momentum.
