Pokémon Blue Version

The game uses a top-down overworld with turn-based battles. Players move through towns, routes, caves, and grassy areas, triggering random encounters in the wild. In battle, you choose moves, use items, switch party members, or attempt to catch wild Pokémon. Progress comes from defeating trainers and Gym Leaders, earning badges, money, and access to new areas. Pokémon gain experience, learn new moves, and many evolve as they level up.

Red

The player character, a young trainer aiming to complete the Pokédex and become Champion.

The Kanto Pokémon researcher who introduces the world and the Pokédex.

Blue

The player’s rival who repeatedly challenges the protagonist throughout the journey.

Giovanni

Leader of Team Rocket and one of the story’s central antagonists.

Build one or two strong core Pokémon early instead of spreading experience too thin. Carry status-healing and recovery items for caves and long routes. Check type matchups before Gym battles to avoid losing momentum. Use sleep or paralysis to make catching rare Pokémon much easier, and save valuable TMs for team members you plan to keep for most of the game.
