Pokémon Emerald

The game uses a top-down exploration view and turn-based battles. Players travel through towns, routes, caves, and waterways, catching wild Pokémon and building a six-member team. Progress comes from defeating trainers and Gym Leaders, earning badges, and unlocking new travel options and story events. Battles rely on type matchups, move selection, items, status effects, switching, and evolution. After the main story, the Battle Frontier offers demanding challenge modes for advanced play.

Build a balanced team early and cover multiple types so you are not overreliant on a single attacker. Keep healing items ready for gym and boss fights, and save before major story battles or legendary encounters. A fast Pokémon with strong coverage moves is especially useful for controlling momentum in the late game and Battle Frontier challenges.

The Battle Frontier becomes available after clearing the main story.
