Double Dragon Advance

The game uses a side-view perspective. Players move through linear stages, defeat groups of gang members, and reach a boss at the end of each area. Basic attacks can be combined with jumps, throws, grabs, and special techniques. Weapons such as bats and whips can be picked up and used temporarily. Progression follows the completed stage sequence, with limited lives and continues determining how far a player can advance.

The kidnapped character whose rescue motivates the adventure.

Use short attack strings rather than repeatedly pressing one button, and keep enemies in front of you whenever possible. Throws are especially useful when several opponents crowd the same side. Pick up weapons for difficult groups, but do not rely on them because they disappear after use. Save special attacks for bosses or dangerous formations, and learn each boss's approach pattern before committing to a combo.

Stay near the center of the screen so enemies cannot surround you from both sides.

Use jump attacks to interrupt enemies carrying weapons.

In two-player play, avoid striking your partner while enemies are clustered.
