Matches are fought in a side-view 2D arena with standard attacks, throws, blocks, and special moves. Each character has a highly individual move set and can make use of mobility tools, air blocking, and combo routes to pressure opponents. Rounds are time-limited and won by depleting the opponent's life gauge; successful hits can be canceled into strings for longer damage. After clearing the arcade ladder, players face progressively tougher CPU opponents.
