This is a side-scrolling beat 'em up where one or more players choose from the three Battletoads and clear stages packed with enemies. Combat focuses on punch combos, dash attacks, grabs, and throws, with enemies attacking from multiple angles. Some stages add hazards or set-piece transitions to vary the rhythm. Progress is linear: defeat waves, survive environmental threats, and beat bosses to move on. Positioning, knockdowns, and coordinated co-op play are key to success.

Prioritize ranged foes and enemies that interrupt your combos, since getting surrounded is the main danger. Against larger opponents, wait for their opening move, then punish with a dash-in or throw to create space. In co-op, cover opposite sides of the screen instead of stacking together. During boss fights, avoid overcommitting to long strings; use safe windows and reset positioning when pressure builds. Learning spawn patterns makes later runs much more manageable.
