The game keeps the classic top-down exploration and turn-based battle structure of the main series. Players travel across Hoenn, battle trainers and Gym Leaders, collect badges, and progress through the story. Inclement Emerald adds a much larger Pokémon roster, revised learnsets and abilities, difficulty options, Mega Evolution, and new areas and events. Success depends heavily on team synergy, type matchups, and smart resource management in major fights.
