Explore a connected map of themed levels, jump and run through platforming sections, collect and use objects, and defeat the bosses at the end of each area. Magno-boots let James run up walls and across ceilings, while gadgets in some stages provide extra vertical movement. The game uses a password system for longer progress.

Learn when the magno-boots will attach to a wall or ceiling before committing to a jump, search each level for objects and alternate routes, and record passwords carefully. Preserve a state before a boss and keep notes for the colour-symbol password system rather than relying on memory alone.
