Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts

The game uses a side-scrolling format where Arthur runs, jumps, attacks, climbs platforms, and avoids enemy fire and stage hazards. Weapons can be swapped through pickups, changing combat behavior with spears, flames, discs, and other tools. Armor can be broken, reducing protection, and death usually sends the player back to a checkpoint. Each stage mixes fixed enemy patterns, hidden items, and trap-heavy platforming. Finishing the game once is not enough; a second, harder playthrough is required for the true ending.

The demon king and final enemy commanding the forces of evil.

Learn enemy spawn points and stage rhythm before rushing forward. In most situations, a safer pace is better than aggressive movement. Choose weapons based on terrain: some are excellent in open areas but awkward on slopes or narrow ledges. Golden armor is valuable because it enables powerful magic, so try to keep it intact. On the second loop, enemy placement becomes harsher, so memorizing routes and trap triggers is essential.

Tips and tricks

• Memorize checkpoint layouts so you know where danger starts after each death.
• Do not swap weapons immediately unless the new one clearly helps the current stage.
• Watch for trigger-based ambushes and pre-position before crossing them.
