Sonic the Hedgehog 2

The game uses a side-scrolling view and is divided into seven zones, each with three acts. Sonic advances by running, jumping, rolling, and collecting rings; losing rings does not end the game, but leaving yourself unprotected makes survival harder. Some stages add special sequences such as mine carts, gliding sections, and water movement, with each zone ending in a boss battle that advances progress.

Keep momentum when you know the route, but slow down in unfamiliar sections to read hazards and platform spacing. Collect rings whenever possible to improve survivability, and use rolling attacks on enemies and slope boosts to maintain speed. In forced-motion segments, time jumps carefully to avoid being thrown off the track.

Tips and tricks

• Hidden routes often offer safer paths and more rings than the obvious route.
• Boss fights are easier if you wait for the attack opening before committing to a jump-in.
