MERCS

The game plays as an overhead scrolling shooter where players advance through roads, camps, and urban war zones while firing a primary weapon and throwing grenades. Characters can move and shoot freely, dodge enemy fire, and hijack hostile vehicles or heavy weapon platforms for stronger offense. Stages feature large groups of infantry, turret emplacements, and armored targets, and cooperative play increases survival by letting players cover each other and split enemy pressure. Progress is stage-based, with scoring and survival depending on enemy clear speed, resource management, and awareness of ambushes.

Captain Commando

A commander-type mercenary, generally suited to balanced firepower and handling.

Bean

A faster character, ideal for agile movement and rapid stage clearing.

Ralf

A heavy-firepower character who excels at direct assault and sustained damage.

Keep moving to avoid being pinned down in narrow spaces. Prioritize turrets, machine-gun nests, and vehicles that continuously spawn pressure. Against armored enemies, clear nearby infantry first so you are not surrounded while focusing fire. If you hijack a vehicle, use its strong firepower to push forward, but exit before it is destroyed. In co-op, split roles between clearing and covering rather than clustering together.

Tips and tricks

• Learn enemy spawn points so you can position yourself before ambushes begin.
• Use grenades for dense infantry groups and tight corridors instead of saving them too long.
• In co-op, dividing fire and covering lanes is safer than everyone stacking together.
