Gradius

The game uses a side-scrolling shoot-'em-up structure where the Vic Viper advances automatically through fixed stages. Enemies, turrets, and environmental obstacles appear continuously, and destroyed foes release power capsules. Collecting capsules fills the power meter, allowing the player to activate upgrades such as speed boosts, double shot, missiles, option satellites, and shields in a chosen order. Survival depends on reading enemy patterns, positioning carefully in narrow passages, and balancing firepower with mobility.

Big Core

A recurring enemy battleship/core-type boss seen throughout the Gradius series.

Save power-meter selections for the upgrades you need most, especially speed and core weapons. In tight sections, avoid over-boosting speed so the ship remains controllable. Learn where turrets and enemy waves spawn, and clear dangerous firing points early. If you pick up a shield, use it to survive tricky segments, but do not rely on it to ignore stage hazards.

• Plan your power-meter route after memorizing each stage's layout.
• Do not stack too much speed too early, or narrow passages become harder to navigate.
• Destroy persistent turrets and spawn points as soon as possible.
