Tetris

Play takes place in a single vertical well where tetrominoes fall one after another. The player moves pieces left or right, rotates them, and drops them faster to fit gaps and complete full rows. Clearing one or more lines removes them from the stack and awards points, while the speed increases as levels rise. The NES version includes both single-player progression and a versus mode, where each line clear can pressure the opponent.

Keep one side of the well open as a channel for the long I-piece. Build a flat foundation and avoid leaving deep holes that are difficult to fill. When the speed rises, focus on survival and clean stacking instead of forcing perfect clears. In versus play, steady line clears are often safer than risky setups.

Tips and tricks

• Leave a vertical lane for the I-piece whenever possible.
• A flat stack is much easier to recover from than a jagged one.
• Do not build too high; always preserve room for last-second moves.
