Clay Fighter is a fighting game for the SNES developed by Visual Concepts and published by Interplay. Built around stop-motion clay animation visuals and a deliberately humorous tone, it arrived during the Street Fighter II boom with bizarre characters and exaggerated special moves. Its core play is traditional one-on-one combat, but the claymation presentation gave it a distinctive identity and lasting cult appeal.

The game uses a side-view 2D fighting format. Players choose from a roster of quirky clay characters and battle against CPU or another player in one-on-one matches. Controls cover movement, jumping, punches, kicks, blocking, and character-specific special attacks. Matches are fought in rounds, and victory goes to the fighter who empties the opponent's health bar first. Each character has different speed, reach, and attack patterns, encouraging spacing and matchup knowledge.

Blue Suede Goo

A fast, blue clay fighter with nimble movement and quick pressure tools.

Bonker

A heavy hammer-wielding brawler built around strong, straightforward attacks.

Frosty

An ice-themed fighter whose techniques emphasize freezing effects and ranged disruption.

Hoppy

A rabbit-like fighter focused on mobility, jumps, and evasive movement.

Taffy

A candy-inspired character with slippery motion and humorous, flexible attacks.

Learn the range and startup of each character's normals before relying on specials. Play at mid-range to bait mistakes, then punish unsafe moves with quick combos or a special attack. If your character has a strong anti-air, use it to stop jump-ins early. Because the pace is brisk, disciplined spacing and health management matter more than trading hits.
