Mario Bros.

Players control Mario or Luigi across a multi-level sewer stage, moving between platforms and using jumps to flip enemies from below before finishing them off. The stage loops with enemies emerging from pipes at increasing speed, creating a steadily rising challenge. Core play centers on positioning, timing, and jump control, with score and efficiency being the main progression goals. The Atari 2600 version retains the basic loop in a simplified form.

Hold the center of the stage when possible so you can respond to pipe spawns quickly. After an enemy is flipped, move in immediately to secure the knockout before it recovers. When multiple enemies are on screen, avoid overcommitting to repeated jumps; clear the threats near the pipes first. Using ledges and staircase positions can create safer angles and reduce the chance of being trapped.
