The game uses a top-down perspective with free exploration across towns, wilderness areas, and story locations inspired by Jin Yong's novels. Players move between regions, converse with NPCs, trigger events, recruit companions, and manage items and skills. Battles are turn-based, emphasizing positioning, weapon choices, martial arts techniques, and party composition. Progress is nonlinear: collecting the scattered book fragments, strengthening the protagonist, and unlocking advanced abilities gradually opens later areas and the final confrontation.

Speak with NPCs repeatedly, as many quests and recruits are hidden behind dialogue changes after key events. Build a balanced party early so you have both strong damage and utility skills. Keep a healthy supply of healing items before entering dangerous zones, and train key martial arts on the protagonist before relying on companions too heavily. Because progression is largely open, revisit earlier towns after major story advances to find new events and companions.
