Zoop is a fast-paced action puzzle game developed and published by Viacom New Media. Players control a central block-like avatar and fire in four directions to clear approaching colored shapes before they reach the core. Its mix of rapid decision-making, color switching, and chain reactions gives it a distinctly arcade feel, making it a memorable mid-1990s puzzle release on home consoles.

The game uses a fixed, center-based playfield. The player sits in the middle and shoots outward in four directions. Hitting a target of the same color clears it and can continue through a chain of matching shapes until a different color is reached. Hitting a different color changes the player’s color instead. As stages progress, shapes close in faster and in greater numbers, so the goal is to manage color, timing, and chain clears to keep the center from being overwhelmed.

The player-controlled central avatar that represents the core you must defend.

Look for long same-color chains before firing so a single shot can remove multiple threats. Since color changes are part of the system, sometimes the best move is to intentionally switch to a more useful color and then return to the most dangerous side. When the screen gets crowded, clear the nearest threats first to preserve space. Consistent pacing is more effective than frantic shooting.
