The game uses a side-view 2D stage layout. Mario moves through construction sites with a hammer, destroying designated walls, ladders, and obstacles to meet each stage's demolition objective. The key challenge is sequence: breaking the wrong support can block routes or make the goal harder to reach. Enemies patrol the area and must be avoided or outmaneuvered. A stage editor lets players place structures and enemies to create custom puzzles.
