Developed and published by Capcom, this is the first Game Boy entry in the Mega Man series. It condenses elements from the NES games into a portable format while keeping the series' precise jumping, weapon-weakness system, and boss-driven structure. Despite the smaller scope, it is remembered as a tight and challenging adaptation that helped define Mega Man on handhelds.

Players control Mega Man in side-scrolling stages built around shooting, jumping, and careful platforming. Defeated Robot Masters grant new weapons, and each weapon can exploit weaknesses in other bosses and enemies. Progression moves from selected stages into a Dr. Wily fortress section, where enemy density and boss rematches raise the difficulty. Movement, positioning, and weapon management are the main skills.

Mega Man

The protagonist robot hero who uses the arm cannon and acquired weapons to stop Dr. Wily.

Dr. Light

The scientist who created Mega Man and supports the fight against rogue robots.

Proto Man

A mysterious robot who appears as an important rival and recurring figure in the series.

Dr. Wily

The main antagonist, a scientist who attempts to conquer the world with robot armies.

Learn the weakness order and clear bosses in a route that preserves health and weapon energy. In platform-heavy stages, move cautiously and use weapon bursts to remove troublesome enemies before jumping into tight spaces. Save stronger weapons for fortress areas and rematch fights. If a stage is giving trouble, replay earlier ones to stock up on extra lives and weapon energy.
