Maniac Mansion

The game unfolds as room-to-room exploration inside the mansion, with players searching for items, talking to characters, and combining objects to overcome obstacles. At the start, you choose three teens from a roster of six, and each lineup changes which routes and solutions are available. On NES, movement and interactions are handled with the controller, while progress depends on collecting key items, triggering events, and unlocking new areas. Many puzzles can be approached in different ways, but some are time-sensitive or limited by team composition.

Check every room carefully and keep track of item uses, since many objects have multiple purposes. Choose a team with complementary abilities if you want a smoother first playthrough. Revisit earlier areas after major events, because new paths and clues often open up. Keep multiple saves if possible, since some choices can lock you out of an easier route.
