Harvest Moon DS was developed by Marvelous Interactive for Nintendo DS as a farming simulation game. Set in Forget-Me-Not Valley, it lets players grow crops, raise livestock, befriend townsfolk, and advance a quest to rescue the Harvest Goddess and gather the Harvest Sprites. It continues the series’ relaxed, pastoral pace and seasonal rhythm, and was generally praised for its large amount of content and flexible systems.

The game uses a top-down perspective with activities spread across the farm, town, mines, and other areas. Players till soil, plant seeds, water crops, harvest produce, mine ore, fish, and sell goods to expand the farm and upgrade tools. Time and stamina are the main limits, so each day must be planned carefully. Social play is also important: talk to villagers, give gifts, attend festivals, build relationships, marry, and raise a family while unlocking more Harvest Sprites to move the story forward.

Pete

The default protagonist, a young farmer who arrives in Forget-Me-Not Valley.

Harvest Goddess

A central Harvest Moon deity caught in the opening magical incident.

Witch Princess

The witch whose spell mishap sends the Harvest Goddess to another world.

Takakura

A supportive farm companion who lives with the protagonist.

Focus early upgrades on the hoe, watering can, and sickle to make daily farm work more efficient. In spring and summer, prioritize reliable crops to stabilize income before investing in livestock and long-term facilities. Speak to villagers and give gifts every day to raise affection for marriage and events. Use the mine and festivals strategically, and always leave enough stamina for essential chores.
