Ape Escape

Played from a third-person perspective, each stage contains a set number of monkeys to catch before progress continues. Spike uses gadgets such as the Time Net, Stun Club, Slingback Shooter, RC Car, and Sky Flyer to explore stages and trap targets. Movement is handled with the left analog stick, while many gadget actions rely on the right stick, a defining feature of the game. New tools unlock access to earlier areas, encouraging backtracking, completion, and full monkey collection.

Learn the timing of the Time Net early, especially with right-stick swings, and avoid rushing straight at alert monkeys. Approach from behind or use corners and elevation to cut off escape routes. Revisit older stages whenever you gain a new gadget, since many hidden monkeys and alternate paths require later equipment. Against fast or aggressive monkeys, stun them first or use the environment to limit their movement before going for the capture.
