Twisted Metal

The game uses a third-person vehicle combat perspective. Players choose from a roster of drivers and weaponized cars, then battle in enclosed stages filled with pickups for weapons, armor, and health. Each arena contains multiple enemies and often a boss-like rival, and clearing the stage advances progression. Controls focus on steering, acceleration, braking, reversing, and firing weapons, while some vehicles have unique specials. Success depends on map awareness, item control, resource management, and reading enemy movement.

A powerhouse character in a dual-wheel armored vehicle, known for his unusual design.

Grab strong weapons and recovery items early, and keep moving to avoid being surrounded. Against tougher enemies, use buildings, ramps, and narrow corridors to limit their mobility, then wear them down with homing or high-damage attacks. Save powerful ammo and special weapons for late-stage rivals, and use elevated or defensible positions to gain a ranged advantage when possible.

Tips and tricks

• Learn the pickup spawn points on each map to make later stages easier.
• Avoid long straight drives; lateral movement and sharp turns reduce the chance of being locked on.
• When facing multiple enemies, prioritize low-health or slow-moving targets first.
