The game uses a fixed-screen shooting perspective. The player can move left and right along the bottom edge and fire a single shot at a time. Alien formations advance downward in organized rows, and the action speeds up as fewer enemies remain. Destructible bunkers provide temporary cover against enemy fire and help block the descending formation. Clearing all enemies advances the player to the next wave, where the pressure increases again.
Focus fire on the lowest enemies first to prevent the formation from reaching your position. Preserve bunker integrity by avoiding unnecessary shots through the middle of cover. Creating small gaps at the sides of bunkers is often safer than destroying them completely. When the formation thins out and speeds up, keep movement controlled and avoid panic shooting.
