The game blends a map-based command view with combat and status screens. Players plot routes across the Pacific, receive mission objectives, and carry out submarine operations such as periscope targeting, torpedo launches, depth control, speed adjustments, and evasive maneuvers against destroyers and patrol aircraft. Progress is mission-driven, with success depending on sinking designated targets and returning safely to base with enough resources intact.

Check torpedo loadout and fuel before departing so you do not run short far from base. When engaging convoys, wait for a broadside shot rather than firing too early. If destroyers begin hunting you, dive, slow down, and change course to break contact. Keep at least one torpedo in reserve for emergencies and plan your return route before committing to deep enemy territory.
