Players build and guide a party of up to six characters through towns, wilderness areas, and maze-like dungeons viewed from first person. Combat is turn-based and requires careful use of attacks, spells, defenses, and formation choices. Progression comes from quest completion, leveling, equipment upgrades, and spell or skill acquisition. Exploration often involves keys, switches, hidden routes, and special abilities needed to access later areas.

Make sure the party has reliable healing, identification, and detection abilities early on, along with at least one strong melee frontliner and one effective spellcaster. Keep enough food, water, and curative items to avoid being stranded deep in hostile territory. If enemies start overwhelming you, return to safer areas to level up and upgrade gear before pushing forward. Buff and mobility spells can greatly reduce the difficulty of tougher encounters.
