Metal Slug

Played from a side-scrolling perspective, the game has players run, jump, shoot, and throw grenades through several stages packed with enemy soldiers, vehicles, and set-piece bosses. Rescued prisoners award items, score bonuses, and weapon pickups such as heavy machine guns, shotguns, flame shots, and rockets. Players can also pilot the SV-001 Metal Slug, using its cannon and vulcan fire to survive heavy encounters. Characters are fragile and usually die in one hit, so stage knowledge and enemy spawn awareness are essential.

Marco Rossi

One of the main playable heroes from the Regular Army, known as the series' most recognizable protagonist.

The second playable hero, fighting alongside Marco on the mission against Morden's forces.

General Morden

The rebel leader and main antagonist whose army drives the conflict of the game.

Memorize enemy spawn points and turret placements instead of rushing forward blindly. Grenades deal excellent burst damage to vehicles and bosses, so save them for dangerous targets. When inside the Metal Slug, use its armor to absorb pressure but avoid getting trapped in narrow spaces. Rescue prisoners whenever it is safe, since their rewards improve both survival and score. During boss fights, study the attack rhythm first, then punish during reliable openings.
