The game uses side-scrolling stage progression with movement, jumping, dodging, and real-time combat. Spyro can attack with fire and other dragon powers, and new abilities are unlocked as the story advances. Levels mix platforming challenges, enemy encounters, light exploration, and boss fights, with progress moving chapter by chapter and through ability upgrades.
