The game uses a top-down perspective and is focused on a single-player story mode. Players explore towns, caves, and field areas, accept quests, collect items, and advance the plot. Combat revolves around placing bombs to damage enemies, clear obstacles, and open paths. Bomberman can improve stats such as bomb power, blast range, and the number of bombs carried. A Battle Mode is also included for two-player matches via Game Link cable.

Bomberman
The protagonist who sets out to recover the stolen engines and stop the Four Commanders.
Strategy
Raise bomb power and blast range early for faster enemy clears and safer routing. Search suspicious walls and blocked passages, since many paths and useful items are hidden behind breakable obstacles. Against mobile enemies, place bombs with their movement in mind instead of staying in close range. In areas you revisit often, learn the locations of healing spots and shortcuts to reduce downtime.

Tips
Tips and tricks
- When dropping bombs in narrow corridors, always keep an escape route open to avoid self-trapping.
- Prioritize enemies with ranged attacks or fast movement to reduce pressure while exploring.
- In Battle Mode, use terrain to force opponents into predictable paths, then seal them off with timed bombs.
