The game uses side-scrolling exploration stages with limited player mobility. Depending on the bean, Blobert can become a ladder, umbrella, spring, or other support tool to cross gaps, reach ledges, or survive falls. The main character is fragile, so water, large drops, and enemies can be fatal. Treasure collection awards points, and those points are used to buy vitamins and progress-related items such as the Vita Blaster.
