Wave Race 64

Played from a third-person perspective, the game puts players on personal watercraft across several ocean courses. The main objective is to race quickly while correctly passing red and blue gates; missing a gate or crossing the wrong side brings penalties. Water conditions constantly alter balance and turning, so players must combine throttle control, steering, sharp turns, and midair adjustments after jumps. Modes include Championship, Time Trials, Stunt Mode, and multiplayer races, with tougher classes and extra content unlocked through progress.

Before tight turns, line up early and aim for the center of each gate to avoid being pushed wide by waves. In rough water, avoid constant oversteering; stabilize the craft first, then correct your line. After jumps, control your nose angle to land cleanly and prevent speed loss. In Time Trials, learn where wave crests form and memorize the shortest safe gate lines. New players should start with a balanced rider before moving to more specialized stats.
