Mario Odyssey 64

Players control Mario through 3D stages built in the style of Super Mario 64, jumping, exploring, and collecting objectives to progress. Pressing L throws Cappy forward; if it hits an enemy or certain objects, Mario can take control of them to gain new abilities or solve puzzles. When no target is available, Cappy spins and briefly pauses Mario in the air, helping with timing and jump correction. Progress is driven by boxy, mission-like level design, platforming challenges, and environmental puzzles.

Learn Cappy’s throw range and capture timing first, since many routes and puzzles depend on it. For tricky jumps, use Cappy to stabilize your position in the air before chaining into a second jump. Capture enemies whenever possible, as some provide movement options that make large gaps much easier to cross.

• Use Cappy as a midair correction tool to improve jump consistency.
• Check landing spots before throwing Cappy on narrow platforms.
• Some captures are faster than Mario’s normal movement and can simplify long gaps.
