The game uses a side-view perspective and presents a sequence of action stages. Dredd moves through urban and industrial environments, defeats enemies, avoids hazards, and reaches the end of each scenario. Progression is based on completing stages and surviving increasingly demanding encounters. The player must combine movement, jumping, weapon use, and positioning rather than relying on a single attack. The Genesis version is a single-player experience.
