Bubble Bobble: Old & New

The game uses single-screen platform stages where players move, jump, and blow bubbles to trap enemies before popping them. Clearing all enemies completes the stage and advances progress through a long sequence of levels. Stage layouts vary with different platform heights, hazards, and enemy patterns. The Old mode recreates the arcade feel, while the New mode updates the presentation. Bubbles can also be used briefly as stepping aids, making positioning and timing important throughout the game.

Bub

One of the main protagonists, a green bubble-blowing dragon who battles through the stages.

Bob

The blue dragon and Bub's partner, sharing the same core role in the adventure.

Focus first on fast or awkward enemies that can corner you easily. Keep moving instead of waiting in low dead ends, and use bubbles as temporary platforms when you need better positioning. If enemies are spread out, guide them toward one side of the stage before trapping them for safer cleanup. Learning each stage layout helps you decide whether controlling the upper or lower platforms gives you the best escape routes.
