The game uses top-down exploration and turn-based battles. Players recruit monsters in towns, fields, and dungeons, then build a party of up to three active combatants. Progress comes from fighting, leveling, and breeding monsters to create stronger offspring with inherited skills. Combat commands include attack, spells, abilities, defense, and items, while each of the two linked adventures advances through story events, dungeon clears, and party development.
